UNLEASH Hack Lusaka aims to address the intertwined challenges of Zero Hunger (SDG 2) and Climate Action (SDG 13) in Lusaka, Zambia, a city with over 60% of its population living in informal settlements and high levels of poverty and extreme poverty. Frequent climate-induced shocks to the food system have exacerbated hunger, malnutrition, and economic instability, leading to increased crime and health issues. The Hack will together participants to develop innovative solutions that enhance food security and build resilience against climate change. By stabilizing food supplies and empowering low-income households, UNLEASH Hack Lusaka seeks to improve health outcomes, reduce social tensions, and inspire broader climate action, ultimately contributing to the sustainable development of Lusaka.
The Hack is scheduled to take place on October 18 and 19.
