Hive bridges the social integration gap between relocated teachers and remote Arctic communities in Canada through peer support. By employing cultural brokers, Hive connects teachers, students, and the local community. The role of cultural brokers is to provide integrative support to reduce the job complexity of teachers by making the curriculum more culturally relevant and comprehensible to students. Additionally, Hive re-employs cultural brokers through new contract opportunities and enabling them to pursue a career in education (e.g. teacher’s assistant). Upskilling cultural brokers through needs-based education and training, new path towards educational development or future careers will open up.
