UNLEASH Hack Norrbotten focuses on finding solutions to equip local communities in the Swedish Arctic to participate and take center stage in governing the ongoing green transition. A part of Europe’s only indigenous territory and a major critical resource hub, the region of Norrbotten has recently made its debut on the geopolitical stage as an up-and-coming leader in the green transition and race to net zero. Despite this, the people who live next door to major green industrial developments and on the land marked by decision makers for extraction are still underrepresented in the processes that determine the future of their homes, livelihoods, and cultural heritage. This Hack aims to explore how we can create better, more community-centered ways of governing this transition to care for both the people and the planet.
