In Greenland, more than three thousand tons of fish is lost due to ghost nets, which is a dent of around 60 million Kroner to their economy each year. NETGAIN is a rewarded deposit recycling scheme that uses scannable tags on nets. Simple recycling points will be installed in each town and settlement. The new deposit scheme would be launched with an informational campaign as well as the introduction of national competition between towns for who can collect the most nets. This campaign should create awareness on the issue and put social pressure on bringing back fishing nets.
