We are building the SELF Kinship Network where we will match 2 beneficiaries to create a supportive partnership. As an interdependent community, our mothers are empowered to support one another and take control to improve their lives. Our tech-enabled services will allow us to serve our beneficiaries in 4 ways. First, run errands for our mothers. Second, fetch their children from school. Third, a big brother or sister positive role model for kids aged 9-12. And finally, this community allows mothers to share knowledge and life experiences. These services were curated in response to the common points among the women whom we spoke to. Two-thirds of them appreciate seeking advice or encouragement from others to tide them through difficult times. We followed-up with a second interview to understand the practical areas they would need help in. They told us they feel unsafe for their child to return home from school alone especially if there are speeding cyclists on pathways. They also feel the need for a role model for their children.
