Realdania partners with UNLEASH
Cities shape how we live, move, connect, and build community. Right now, they stand at the center of some of Europe’s most complex challenges: How do we design neighborhoods that strengthen wellbeing? How do we make urban spaces greener, healthier, and more resilient? And how do we ensure that the benefits of the green transition are shared by everyone?
As Europe accelerates its green transition, a coherent, long-term vision is needed; one that brings together architecture, community wellbeing, environmental stewardship, and inclusive planning. Denmark has long been a frontrunner in developing forward-looking solutions that reduce carbon footprints, create healthier and more livable cities, and help people adopt more sustainable everyday habits. Many of these advancements have emerged from close collaboration between industry leaders, businesses, designers, researchers, and civil society.
With Copenhagen as the host city of UNLEASH Europe, there is a unique opportunity to connect young changemakers with the Danish expertise and solutions shaping the built environment of tomorrow. This will allow ideas rooted in Danish experience to inspire new approaches across Europe, while also enabling young Talents to adapt and reimagine these ideas for their own local contexts.
“Realdania was an essential partner at the very first UNLEASH Innovation Lab in Denmark, and we’re looking forward to build the next chapter together. Their support is key to mobilize young changemakers who will dive into the interconnected challenges facing European communities to design solutions that make life better for people and the planet,” says Chairperson of UNLEASH, Prof. Flemming Besenbacher.
UNLEASH Europe will be a pivotal moment to explore how the built environment can promote equity, accelerate sustainable transitions – from the way we build to the way we live – and strengthen community resilience.
We’re excited to continue this journey with Realdania and look forward to inspire the next generation of changemakers who will help design the future of Europe’s cities.
